I've been doing a bit of recording...
Four brand new tunes of mine are now up for grabs - called "Ballan Wrasse", this short set comprises a combination of single-take loop guitar jams and some fun with field recordings. Some of these ideas have been road-tested at recent shows.
Works in progress:
The $un$hine Republic album is finished. Recorded by us ourselves, we've crushed the sound of a massive factory warehouse until the tapes stretched, split and melted. Thanks to Chris and Helen for their never-ending patience.
One of the outtakes from the first Beer Crew weekend is available right now for free on this site.
Jack Nicholson have been drinking again, and the results will be released at some point very soon thanks to Krayon and other labels. One full length record is finished, with loads more on the way.
$R NOVEMBER TOUR / SOUND-ART EVENT / REMIX...
Check out Bad Acid magazine this month for a nice big interview with Sunshine Republic.
There's a review of my first solo show of many years right here: bhone.co.uk
The next Sunshine Republic busman's holiday takes place in November with the plan being...
7th London - Pool Bar
9th Birmingham - Sanctuary
10th Sheffield - Casbah
11th Glasgow - 13th Note
12th Leslie - Greenside Hotel
14th Lincoln - Horse & Groom
15th Bristol - The Junction
21st Brighton - Greenhouse Effect
Obviously this is all subject to change until it actually happens.
My next show will be 26th November - Forbidden Planet @ 60 Million Postcards, Bournemouth with Richie P
Music by me was heard as part of sound art event The Happening on 6th - 9th September at The Basement, 10-16 Ashwin St, London E8. The event also boasted:
Recorded music/installations by Dylan Nyoukis, Disinformation, Richard Crow, Yumi Hara and loads of others
Live improvisations/interactions that include Steve Beresford, Gina Southgate, Steve Noble, Sharon Gal, Adam Bohman and Toy Orchestra
An Hexaphonic Guitar will feature heavily in the various performances, with each string sent individually to seperate amplifiers in different rooms
A Feral Choir, lead by Phil Minton.
I have also completed a short remix of "Found Dead On The Shoreline" by Tim Holehouse - available at some point in the future as part of a split release between Tim and Japan's VeeDee.
Thanks to everyone involved in the 'Sunday School Project' on 26th August - an impressive all-dayer in an old church in Bournemouth, and especially satisfying given the area's recent venue problems. The day was an accessible mix of all things weird and wonderful. More of these events please.
